Mario Ybarra Jr.
Mario Ybarra Jr. was born in 1973 in Los Angeles where he continues to live and work. He received a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles (1999) and his MFA in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine (2001). In his installations and community-based projects, Mario Ybarra Jr. exemplifies contemporary art and the way in which it is filtered though a Mexican- American experience in Los Angeles. Some of his more noted works include The Peacock Doesn’t See Its Own Ass/Let’s Twitch Again: Operation Bird Watching in London (2006), DSN: Do Something New (2007), the Scarface Museum (2008), For All I Know He Had My Friend Angel Killed.  He is represented by Lehmann Maupin Gallery, NY.
