Karla Turcios
Karla Turcios translates the forces of change in cities and its impact on people into visual narratives of urban transformation. Recently, she has exhibited at the Lowe Art Museum in Coral Gables, Spain’s Cultural Center in Miami, and the OAS Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, DC. Turcios received a BFA in Electronic Media at Carnegie Mellon University, where she received several grants, including the Vira Heinz Endowment, to research the cultural impact of the Internet on Latinos in the US and in Latin America. Additionally, she directed two student galleries, interned at the Whitney Museum of Art and worked at the Harn Museum of Art. She worked professionally creating online strategy and multimedia projects for non-profits, governmental and museum institutions and TV networks. She was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and is completing her MFA
