Alette Simmons-Jimenez
Alette Simmons-Jimenez is a painter, sculptor and video installation artist currently living and working in Miami, Florida.  The artist is fascinated with the psychology of human behavior and her work reflects issues of freedom and containment, inside and out, positive and negative, the intersections of humanity and spirituality.The artist received a BFA from Newcomb College, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana.  Her works have been exhibited internationally in museums and fairs such as Musee du Luxembourg, CIRCA05; Optica Festival; the US Department of State Art in Embassies Program; the Mobile Museum of Art; the Museum of Modern Art, Santo Domingo; the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach; Art Miami; FIU Green Library; the New Media Lounge, Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art; the National Association of Women Artists Gallery, New York; the Art Gallery/Inter-American Development Bank, Washington, D.C.; the Miami MOCA; and at Texas A&M University, as well as other institutions and private galleries. Simmons-Jimenez is the recipient of numerous awards as well as State Fellowships and Grants, a First Place Award in Video at the National Biennial in Santo Domingo, and a First Place in Painting at the Mobile Museum of Art, and others.
